The Guarantee Guild (CG) is a national consumer protection organisation specialising in household related matters. It is totally independent from government and trade bodies, and receives no funding from registered companies. It is funded by Membership subscription.

The GG will provide telephone information services that are free to Members, which can assist in many of the complex fields of being a householder.

Membership details are confidential and are subject to the Data Protection Act.

We believe the company you have invited for quotation is one of the finest in its field of operation. However, before it became registered by the Guild it had to undergo a stringent vetting procedure.

The Vetting Procedure

The audited accounts of the company are analysed by financial experts to ascertain whether the company is secure.

Guild inspectors attend the company’s offices and randomly select 100 past customers. They are sent a questionnaire on the performance of the company, sales representative, and installation teams.

A percentage of these past customers are visited by Guild technical inspectors, who investigate the quality of the installed products.
Technical inspectors also attend the company to ascertain the minimum standards of the product used in manufacture.

The company’s managing director/proprietor completes a 2l-page questionnaire and legally binding sworn statement on the company’s trading practices and history.

Continuous Monitoring

These checks were made on behalf of you, the consumer; however, all registered companies are continuously monitored. Every contract is looked at, and deposits, customer satisfaction, and after-sales servicing are checked.

Company Validation

We strongly suggest that you check whether the company still retains registered status, and to this end we are open until 9pm to answer any queries you may have. Quote the company reference number shown or ask the company’s representative for his/her identification code.

The Guarantee Guild Indemnity Scheme, Your Protection

In order to safeguard your investment, The Guarantee Guild, through its underwriters, indemnifies your deposit and guarantee.

Deposit Protection: The Guild will safeguard any deposit paid, up to the value of £2,500, for a period of three months. Deposit protection may be extended beyond the three month period by calling the Guild on 08457 40 00 40.

In the event that the company ceases to trade the Guild will arrange for your contract to be completed by an alternative registered company, for the balance of the contract price, less any deposit already paid.

In the event that the Guild cannot arrange the completion of your contract, your deposit becomes refundable.

Guarantee Protection: Upon satisfactory completion of your order, the Guild will issue you with a Certificate of Cover. In the unlikely event that the registered company ceases trade the Guild will honor its guarantee under the same terms and conditions.
